Refuge House is a much needed resource and Ministry for Monroe County. It’s Mission is to provide short term housing for those who find themselves devastated by fire or other tragedy. Working with fire, police and other departments and agencies we are able to reach those in need and help them with resource partners like Job and Family, GMN, and Red Cross to name a few.
The thought for this project stemmed from an idea of putting to use an otherwise empty house to introduce New Ministry to the Community and for the Community. After the ice storm of 2021 it was suggested by some of the congregation that used it during that time that it be opened for an Emergency Shelter for Monroe County. This will stand as a foundation for other ministries for the Community as well, for instance a Youth Center. We want this to be known as a Safe Space for any and all people – Youth or Adult.
